If we're measuring injury improvement by 5k finish times, then my knee has come a long way in just the last 4 weeks! The last 5k of April was this past Friday and I'm happy to say that I didn't have to stop to walk and my knee mostly did not give me any trouble! This gives me hope that I can actually sign up for another race (hopefully a couple of triathlons) this year and not be forced to walk across any more finish lines! Seriously. That's the worst.
Here are my 5k times for each Friday in April:
Had to walk after 2 miles |
Here I am taking a stroll, wearing a race bib |
Had to stop and stretch at mile 1.5, then continued my slow jog |
Only ran ~2.5 miles of this one before being diverted to finish line due to lightning. I wish I had that pace! |
2.5 min/mile faster than the first 5k!! Really happy with this time, as I didn't have to stop and walk at all, and my knee wasn't painful - just ached a bit. |
2000 runners at the start force you to start off at an easy pace. |
No need to rush - my knee doesn't want it |
Happy to run across the finish! |
