Goings On

Sometimes my life isn't all boring (but is probably always uninspiring).  Here's a smattering of some fun things I've done over the last few months. Yay Spring!

MAY

5th:  Cinco De Mayo celebration at my place!  We had way too much food, and way too much fun talking about poop while hanging out on my back patio.  I had 4 friends come over, but somehow my only picture was of Travis.

8th:  First baseball game of the season!  We won, but I still didn't catch a fly ball in my glove (I bring it to every baseball game I attend).  Someday!

Our new president on the team, William Howard Taft with Abraham Lincoln
The Cheese
11th: Sweetlife Festival!  My friend Jonathan had an extra free ticket (since the company he works for was one of the sponsors) that he offered to me.  The day started off sunshiney and hot, and then we had a crazy downpour a few hours later and everybody got soaked.  I huddled with a handful of people under a tarp that was supposed to be protecting the ping pong table.  During the downpour, we peaked out from behind the tarp and saw some 15 year old girl vomiting in her lap all soupy-like, then passing out, waking up to vomit again, then passing out again.  This continued for an hour or more.  It was super disgusting, and yet I couldn't NOT look.  We ended up staying to hear all the bands.  The bands who played later in the evening were fun.

26th:  Cousin Richard came to visit for Memorial Day weekend.  It was quite chilly this day, but the sun was shining, so we hung out at my pool for a few hours.  I got ROASTED.  Nearly 3 weeks later, I'm finally at the end stages of peeling.  Hopefully.

31st:  Parents fly in for a visit!  Yay!  Since they've been here several times and done all the popular touristy things, I decided to take them down to Old Town Alexandria for a stroll along the river and shops.  The evening weather was just perfect.

JUNE

I took vacation the first week of June to hang out with my parents and my sister's family.  It was great!  We spent a lot of hours playing pinball in the basement.

7 machines. Very loud. Very fun

1st:  Nephew Seth's 8th Birthday!
Basketball cake!
A new basketball hoop for his birthday!  He's a good little shooter
Seth wanted to do a birthday puzzle.  He helped with the border, left for a few hours, then came back in time to put in the few remaining pieces.  :)

2nd:  Soccer: USA vs GER!!  This was so awesome!  Travis was generous enough to give me a ticket to go with him to RFK Stadium to watch the US Men's National Team take on Germany.  Since we had just been to Germany 8 months before, and I LOVE soccer, I was super excited.  It turned out to be the BEST soccer match I've been to.  7 total goals!  And USA took the win, 4-3.  Nevermind that Germany had their 2nd string players on the pitch.  We were just so excited to win.  It was a really fun day in which we tailgated before the game and got our grill on.

Over 47k fans attended

4th:  Niece Hannah teaches me how to do a 5-strand braid on her hair, and she does amazing things with mine.

My attempt to conquer the 5-strand french braid on Hannah's hair
Hannah does awesome things with hair

5th:  Nephew Joseph's 5th grade recognition

7th:  Sweet Frog silliness

The fam-damly

8th:  Nephew Seth's baptism
