2+ Month Recap

Now that Panama is behind me, I need to catch up on what has happened SINCE! Lots of fun things for sure. This post will mostly be told by pictures because believe it or not, I'm tired of writing! :D

At the beginning of June, Todd came for a quick weekend visit to pick up Tami and Jer's truck that they left behind when they moved to Germany. One of the fun activities while he was here: DC United soccer game! It was a GREAT game, despite the rain! After the game, we ordered pizza and watched the NBA Finals at my place.

Friday night included a trip up to Julie & Steve's place, complete with grilling, ping pong, foosball, pinball, and of course Guitar Hero.

A couple of weeks later, my friends and I went to a huge BBQ in the National Harbor.  I was so excited to see a mechanical bull there!

National Harbor is where The Awakening statue was moved to. I believe this is a better home for him.

I also finished up my soccer season with The Once Mighty Growlers. At the first of the season, I was really disappointed with my performance. The second or third game I played, I scored an own goal. Embarrassing! The team captain was constantly yelling for me to do this or that (which I didn't get offended by - he was just making sure I knew what I was supposed to be doing). My mind remembered what I needed to do to play the game, but my body was not cooperating! I actually got to the point of dreading each game, and I vowed that I wouldn't sign up to play again. I was just too frustrated with myself. BUT! Toward the end, I actually started improving! I was excited to play and the team captain started yelling at the others to pass ME the ball! I also sustained my first soccer injury which I was proud of. I was competing for the ball and somebody's cleat went right to my knee. OUCH! It really hurt and I couldn't walk for several minutes. Turned out to be a pretty cool bruise, though! I was actually sad when the last game was played. I was eager and excited to keep going and playing. I believe there is a fall league. I'm definitely signing up. I hope I can continue to improve! I love the game.

My old roommate Katie came back to VA after being gone for about a year.  I sure do miss her!  She's great. We had fun going out to dinner, eating ice cream, grilling, and meeting up on my lunch break.  I miss my shredded wheat partner in crime!

My friend Kelly came out to visit me from UT at the end of June and was able to stay for 2 weeks!  It was really fun to have her here.  We went out to eat, went shopping, packed a picnic and watched the planes fly in to Reagan National Airport, saw the Washington Nationals play, watched the 4th of July fireworks together, and made a day trip to Gettysburg.  So fun to see and hang out with her again!  We certainly laughed a lot and had a good time.

GETTYSBURG

It started to really pour down rain at this point!

Since Kelly left, I've been hanging out with local friends, seeing movies, eating out, hanging by the pool, etc.  It's been a really great summer!  We've been lucky this year as it's mostly only been in the 80's - not the usual oppressive heat and humidity that this area is known for.  Thank goodness, as it's allowed me to enjoy the outdoors without being miserable.

I got a surprise last week from my other old roommate and awesome friend, Tasha!  She and her husband moved to Germany in February.  Well, on Monday I got a knock on the door and there she was!  It was awesome.  She's in town for some job training until mid-November!  So cool.  I'm SO excited to hang out with her over the next couple of months and then I get to see her again in December when I go to Germany!  Yippee!  Lots of great things to look forward to!

I miss playing soccer. After I have this baby I might get back into it again.:) You do the coolest things where you live! I'm trying to talk David into taking me to New York in the next few years. Maybe we can come see you too!:)
