Catch-up

It has been a crazy couple of months!! There has been much stress and a lot of things going on, hence the break in blog posts. People have bugged me about my blog enough, however, that I feel I need to update... Let's see if I can make this short & sweet..

I have moved! With this statement comes a lot of mixed emotions. I lived in a wonderful townhouse with even more amazing roommates! I have never lived in a place with so many girls, and yet been so happy to live there! We had such fun times together and we all got along so well. Our personalities meshed perfectly and I truly appreciated the sarcastic nature of everyone. A rare find indeed.

However, our Landlord decided to put the townhouse up for sale, so we all had to vacate. Katie moved to Denver, Tasha was getting married, Merrilee moved in with a new roommate, and Hayden and I planned to move somewhere together. Alas, things don't always go smoothly. Last-minute, I bailed on Hayden because I didn't feel good about the place we chose. I felt even WORSE about bailing on her, but I couldn't make myself feel ok about moving in with 4 other random girls that I didn't know. Maybe I have social anxiety. I don't know. Just add that to the list of things wrong with me. So that meant I had 9 days to find a new place and move in -- on the 10th day, I was flying to UT for Tasha's wedding.

I found a place on Friday, got all my paperwork approved on Monday, moved in Wednesday and flew out Thursday. I had all my things packed and ready to go for the Wednesday move. My sister Julie planned to come down from WV to help me during the day, then I had a couple of guy friends coming to help with the heavy stuff that night. Everything was organized and ready. I had never been so on top of things! But then our dear roommate Merrilee got attacked with bad pain and sickness Tuesday night. She ended up going in to the hospital to have surgery, poor little one!! Among the shock and worry for her, we realized that she still had a lot of items at the house that she was planning on taking care of Tuesday and Wednesday night - we had to be completely moved out of the place Wednesday night. So Hayden and I did the best we could sifting through things and organizing piles of 'keep', 'donate', and 'trash'.

Long story short, Wednesday came along, I moved all of my things, helped with the clearing out of the rest of the house, and 17 hours later I was done. It was the most stressed I've ever been since I lost my job back in January. SO thankful for the friends who helped out, esp the guys and their muscles who helped for an unexpected 6 hours that night!! The next morning, I waited around for a combined total of almost 4 hours to let house cleaners and carpet cleaners in to the house. Then I rushed to the airport. I was exhausted!!

Tasha's wedding day was beautiful and it was so fun to see Katie again after missing her in Denver for a couple of months. The rest of the weekend was spent seeing old friends and visiting family during the short visit. It was a WONDERFUL time away and stress-reliever.

I am now living by myself and I am really enjoying it. It is nice to look around and realize that everything is mine. Even the mess. It's just mine. I realized, however, that I did not have a lot of the essentials! After a month of living there, I finally purchased some salt and pepper, for example. Kinda funny the things you take for granted when you live with others. Another big and fun purchase I made was a Sharp 46" LCD tv! With the help of a friend this weekend, we were able to install the wall mount for it and hang it on the wall! It looks awesome. I love it!

Things are coming along and it is starting to feel more and more like a home. Now if only I could get the property management company to fix the gaping hole in my bathroom ceiling that so conveniently leaked during the freak rain storm Friday night, the screens on the windows, the lights in the family room ceiling beams, the washer that only ever fills up half-way with water, the big cracks in the walls, remove the lock box on my door knob and assign me the storage area downstairs where I can put my empty rubbermaid bins, I will really be set. Oh, it's always something.

It's nice to finally here from you again! Slacker! Just kidding. I am so glad you are all moved in, and you got your t.v. put up! It was so good to see you when you were here!
