I'm no Noah. I didn't have warning of a flood.

It's Friday night. Actually, I lie. It is really Saturday morning, 1:27AM. It would be fun to say that I had been out all night with friends having a good time, but in fact, it seemed as if I were on house-arrest. Over 2 weeks ago, I noticed a wet spot on the carpet in my bathroom. A day later, the wet area was significantly larger, so I called our property management company. They couldn't get a plumber to come until Monday afternoon, so that meant that I had to deal with it all weekend. Needless to say, the wet carpet problem became significantly worse -- when standing in the bathroom in the morning to get ready for work, the hem of my pants would get soaked just by barely brushing the top of the carpet. Gross.

Monday was the day that Tasha came home! It was a happy day, except she had to show the plumber in. She told me later that the plumber went in the bathroom, looked at the carpet and said, "Hmmmm. I'm gonna have to call my door guy." Which means.... ??? OK. So I figured we'd hear back from the plumbing company for the next steps. Nope. Never heard a peep. So I call the company to ask what is happening. The lady puts me on hold for 15 minutes only to come back and say that she's not sure what the status is, and she'll have to call me back. 5 hours later, I get a voicemail saying that the plumbers are working with the property management company to solve the problem and if I had any questions, please call them. *sigh* OK.

The next day I call our property management again and ask them what is going on. They have no idea. The plumber never talked to them. Perfect. He'll call me back once he's spoken to the plumber. No call. Meanwhile, my bathroom has turned in to a swamp, and each time I walk in there, there is this sickening squish-squench sound and the nasty wet carpet water squelches over my flip-flops and my feet actually get wet. It grosses me out, and it actually is stinking like moldy toilet water down here. Ew!

Finally, they schedule the plumber to come again to fix whatever leak is causing the minor flood in my bathroom. When I get home from work, I go down to my bathroom to see what was up. I find out that the trash can and the toilet brush are up -- up on my counter right next to my toothbrush!! Yucky-yuck!! The carpet is completely ripped up and folded in half across the width of the bathroom. Apparently these plumbers do their deed and leave the area a complete disaster. I guess correctly that nothing is going to happen unless I call the property management again. They un-surprisingly hadn't heard from the plumber about what was done, so they couldn't tell me what they were going to do about the carpet. Ugh. I wait for a call back. Nobody calls me.

Merrilee tells me that they have contacted her and that carpet people are going to come to the house tonight sometime after 6. I say, great. Let's get it done. I'll be home around 6 and I'll just wait for them to come and then head to the gym a little later than usual. It's Friday after all. I have time. 6 comes and goes. 7. 8. 9. .... A little after 9:30PM, the doorbell rings and it is the carpet people! At this point I'm peeved because I sat around all night just waiting. I could have gone to the gym and run a marathon in this time. What a waste of my Friday.

Now there is a huge blower fan thing in the bathroom in front of my shower door and toilet, so I can't use my bathroom at all. I asked Mr. Carpet Guy if he was going to come back for the blower in the next couple of days, and what the next steps were, etc. His helpful answer was for me to contact my property management company. Good. Then I can go through the "I have no idea what's happening, let me call you back" scenario again, and wait for the phone call that will never come.

Who decides to put carpet in bathrooms anyway? That just screams problems to me. Bathrooms are wet. Water and carpet don't mix well.

Wow. This was a pretty negative post. I've just been dealing with this bathroom issue for over 2 weeks and I think I'm just about done with it. The good news is that I got to play my brother in law and nephew on Wii Mario Kart for a while, and I dyed Merr's eyebrows. So that was a nice switch-up. I've been a nerd and have been updating my music library so I don't have so many "unknown artist, tracks 1-20" anymore. Important things, you see. I should actually be thanking Mr. Plumber, Mr. Property Management and Mr. Carpet. Another fantastic thing: I booked myself a massage for tomorrow! I'm really excited for that. The first part of this year has been super stressful at work, and I've added a bunch of new work-out routines that have left my body hurting in a different area every week. I'm hoping my 80 minute massage will give me a huge release and leave me a new woman. :)

Enough. I'm sleeping now. Almost 2AM. I love Saturdays.

P.S. I don't know why this post doesn't display with paragraphs. I have tried editing it over and over again, but it all clumps in to one huge paragraph/page. Sorry to you readers.

Hopefully the moisture hasn't attracted creepy, crawly things that come out in the night.

Wow. I will give them a call again as well. Maybe the next post can be on oven door handles that come off, bizarre foreign realators, or our drug dealing neighbors?
